The new preview image is a cropped part of the beautiful commission :iconjoandark: did for me.  (I cropped Morior out, so that Vira would be a little bigger in this one.))

I will be eventually updating the other bios as well, but unless they show up in your notifications, I haven't touched them.

If curious, you can find writing involving her and other of the main four for penumbra at the following links:

and more crap just in this gallery folder overall.  I need to put it more, buttt...lazy!

NAME:  Vira 'Beige' Ayers.   Beige is her codename, a treasured nickname from childhood.  She flips between her real name and her codename when it comes to work, though typically she is called Beige to keep her real name, where she lives, etc, safe.

ALIGNMENT/OCCUPATION:  Vira is a licensed, trained cop that works for Omaggio city's super-powered police division.  (in my world, there are essentially two divisions of cops in each town, those with powers and those without.  Those with are basically legal superheroes.  Yes I'm weird.)

PARTNER: Her partner in the field is fortunately a good friend she made while at the training academy, whom she did a lot of decent work with in exercises- Logan. (codename Locke)

GENDER: Female

AGE: 23-25 (still deciding how much time passes in the series!)

Voice: I headcanon it as Eliza Dushku.  She's the voice of Catwoman in this www.youtube.com/watch?v=kDqi_8…

and if you know about the movie bring it on or have ever seen it, she's Missy. XD

ATTIRE:

When it comes to her hair, her natural hair color is a pinkish purple (magenta, basically).  She dyes other colors, particularly ombres.  She has the sunset one like in the picture, a 'sky' one that you can find a sloppy example of in penumbra's art section, and the least crazy style she has is a darker shade of purple applied either on top or bottom, with her natural magenta taking up the other half.

She does have a uniform, standard to all members of the ospd, that she wears while on the job for the most part.  Sometimes the powered divisions sends their agents out as undercover cops and she's allowed to wear whatever, but you bet she has to wear the uniform.

As far as other clothing however, her main outfit is the one shown in the picture- a red tanktop with a black stripe running down it, a belt, black skinny jeans, belted boots, and black, fingerless gloves with a small crescent moon cut into both of them.

Outfit 2: sta.sh/02fqxuixso3s

Outfit 3: sta.sh/01hptk9s0wnm

What constitutes as formal for her: sta.sh/01ocftyws1i8

And I adopted this dress from :iconmarinaoutfits:, and see it as a 'blood moon' dress that she would get from creepy sources and be given for creepy reasons.

SOUNDTRACKS

I seem to have gotten rid of her solo playlist, so here's a link to an ever-growing playlist for the Penumbra series itself.  (so not all these songs are for her haha.  Some are, some are for others, some are general, etc.)

8tracks.com/maskerade/penumbra…

And she has shipping playlists!

The cutesy, sappy one for her and Logan, once they become an item later on

8tracks.com/maskerade/badge-bu…

Annnnd the dark creepy stuff with Morior (I'll probably post the general and shipping on multiple char bios, so forgive me for that.)

PERSONALITY:

Top 5 Positive traits:

{+}She seems virtually fearless and while this is definitely a bad thing many times, it also can be a positive, and causes some people to actually look up to her.

{+}She has a huge sense of humor and fairly thick skin. It takes a LOT to ruffle her feathers and really put her down in a lot of ways. Vira always seems to have a way of bouncing back quickly and not letting anything rain on her parade for too long.

Much to some people's displeasure, she also takes it upon herself to try forcing them to do the same and cheer them up- she's definitely the sort of girl who believes you need to have humor to cope with a lot of life and you should always get back up on the horse after falling off.

{+}Being kind of an oddball herself sometimes, as well as a girl without shame in plenty of areas, Vira is generally pretty accepting of a lot of people and easygoing with including them into things. Now that's not to say she'll be calm and collected when meeting new people, or respect their need for space, but she'll gladly welcome any new person who seems interesting in any way and have them jump right into action alongside her.

{+} She's not exactly shy in ANY way, so she's willing to start up a conversation just about anything with a complete stranger if it seems like a fun thing to do or way to pass the time.  Vira is very comfortable around people, a crowd, and in the spotlight as well.

{+} Though her methods and attitude may be a little unorthodox or unhelpful in some people's opinions, and she does get kind of lost in the desire of being a hero for the thrill, honor, and other reasons, Vira does actually care about other people.  So, while she can definitely be a selfish creature, she also does have an okay moral compass when it comes to the needs and safety of others, will always do anything to help she can if somebody is in trouble, and do things to help and benefit others.

Yes she does a lot of things for herself, but she's not totally cold and distant or anything she really does care about other people, it's just easy for her to get wrapped up in her own thrills and kicks sometimes and lose sight of the more important reasons to become a hero.

Top 5 Negative traits:

{-} Vira is a mischievous little imp sometimes who really likes getting a rise and all sorts of reactions out of others. She'll do it all in good fun she claims, but this also tends to annoy some people, not to mention is usually pretty dangerous when she does it to criminals.

Sometimes, she also doesn't always know where to draw the line with people or when to stop. She can get swept up in one of her little moods and really tick somebody off, possibly even wind up hurting or offending them unintentionally then have to do a lot of damage control.  Not to mention the fact her brash, playful, sarcastically flirtatious mischief can attract THE ABSOLUTE WRONG ATTENTION *cough*morior*cough* and even then it takes a lot to convince her to take that kind of thing seriously and not believe interest will be lost, she can annoy somebody away, pound them into the ground, etc.

{-} She's impulsive on top of being a thrill seeker.

Vira loves the sensation of adrenaline coursing through her veins and finds dangerous or otherwise thrilling things great fun. She's the kind of person who would rather conquer fears head on by charging right into them then cower because of anything. She does of course have that nagging voice at the back of her mind and anxieties, but she tends to do her best to ignore those things and plow through with getting a few thrills.

{-} She doesn't have the best handle on her powers. She knows how to use them and in her own opinion 'well', but they can get kind of erratic and she can wind up losing control and accidentally hurting somebody or causing collateral damage she didn't mean to. She definitely needs to practice better control and to learn HEY MAYBE I NEED TO CONTAIN MYSELF INSTEAD OF GOING HARD OR GOING HOME.

{-}Vira is shameless in many areas and doesn't exactly have a great filter on her mouth or the things that come out of it.

{-} She doesn't always think things through the greatest and impulsively launches herself into situations in the heat of the moment, so she can and will land herself in hot water and then have to struggle to backtrack. There's definitely a LOT of areas Vira needs to shape and grow up in, if she ever hopes to become and make it as true blue hero.   She does good work, but she also has a lot of growing and maturing to do, as Locke and some superiors love to remind her.

Summarized/Detailed personality:

Vira is definitely a person who has her quirks, and can raise a few eyebrows when she mentions she's a rookie super-powered cop with dreams of making it to one the most prestigious organizations there are for supers someday. Her impulsive and impish sides certainly don't give a whole lot of people confidence she has what it takes to hold such a role, though as disheartening as that can be to her at times, she's determined to prove you don't have to be 'a stiff' in order to help and protect people. That you can still have fun, enjoy life, and that she truly does have what it takes despite those more immature sides of her.

Vira recognizes the fact she can be a bit too immature for her own good at times, but old habits are hard to break and she's young yet, so the sort of person who likes enjoying life and needs plenty of breaks from work to enjoy herself and unwind. She's also restless just sitting around doing nothing or what she finds to be boring work for too long, so she likes to have things to do and keep herself moving and that feeds into her impulsive, thrill seeking nature.

She can be quite a pain in the butt and sassy with people just for the fun, but she really rarely means any harm by it, unless she's snarking with some jerk or villain. She's willing to admit to her own misgivings when she can see they've caused an issue or is forced to see she is at fault, not the sort of person afraid to say 'hey, you're right I was wrong and being an idiot..sorry about that', once everything is shoved in her face, and will adapt if somebody she likes can't handle her brand of personality after she is confronted with that fact.

Vira is also a fairly friendly individual if you're not a complete jerk or shy away from loud, flashy people like her, so she likes to think that truth helps make up at least in some part for the more obnoxious shades of her personality.  She does have a lot of growing up to do regardless, and will be put through the ringer and tons of tests in her career that will force her to see how immature and reckless she really is, how dangerous that is, and ultimately lead to her starting to grow up as time goes along.   For the initial part though, she's more or less one of those agents that likely has a betting pool going on how long she'll last before she's put on leave or something like that due to her initial nature.

MAIN POWER(s)

Yes much like Morior, Vira is overpowered. Like I said on Morior's bio, I'm trying to balance things out for them as much as possible by giving them a fair amount of weaknesses.  If people think I need to add more than I already have, I'm all ears!

Lunar manipulation and resulting subpowers; class A powerset

POWER TREE/ABILITIES RELATED TO HER POWER

Lunar energy manipulation

Lunar enhancement

Darkness manipulation

Cyrokinesis

Temperature resistance SOLELY on the cold end of the spectrum, the opposite of Moriar's.

POWER WEAKNESSES;

When the moon is new, obscured by clouds, unreachable, and during the day, Vira CANNOT use lunar energy in any form. Even on a night when the moon is full, if it gets covered by clouds, she can't access and use the energy. She will be able to again when the clouds part and move away, but clouds will cut off her connection to the moon's energy. This ties into some of the more faint, magical traces of what's going on and her ancestry. A lot of her powers are connected.

By unreachable, I mean if she can't get in moonlight while inside or be outside when the moon is out, she can't use lunar energy. Looking at the moon does nothing, she has to either be within its light while indoors to absorb the energy, or be outside when the moon is out. If she's outside she can absorb the energy far easier, though the cloudy and daytime rules still apply! The moonlight she can absorb indoors is also ALWAYS weaker than it would be outside.

The same holds true for darkness. If her connection to the moon's energy is cut off or not even there to begin with, her shadow manipulating abilities become severed as well.  Darkness manipulation works best when used outside on a night where the moon is out, particularly during the full moon.  If bathed in moonlight indoors she can use it, but again it will be weaker no matter how dark it is, thanks to the connection.

Temperature resistance only applies to the extreme she is good with, aka the cold. The heat bothers her faster than other superhumans and normal people alike, so she's more prone to sun poisoning, dehydration, heat exhaustion, etc. And if she succumbs to these, it does of course have an adverse effect on her ability to fight and wield her powers, as well as make her sick and lethargic for obvious reasons lol.

So Vira has to take care on the hottest days of the summer, and even the really humid ones. Summer and her just don't get along very well during the day. During the most hot time of year, her cyrokinesis becomes weaker, as her body steals some of its energy to try and cool her body down and keep her body temperature regulated from overheating.

Lunar eclipse energy, in the rare times it can be used, is incredibly draining and has to be used properly to not exhaust and potentially harm her in turn. It can also ONLY be used in its potent form for a short window during the lunar eclipse, when the moon is completely within the shadow of the earth, and that alteration of the energy vanishes the second that window closes. It also packs more of a volatile and violent punch than the usual energy she uses does, as it combines lunar and dark energy, so she has to be careful when using it not to cause too much collateral damage and the like.  She cannot combine them on her own, and she has no control over what happens during that point in a lunar eclipse.  If used too much during the short window, it sets her back a day or two and she can't use any of her powers without running the risk of seriously hurting herself as well as only having a pathetic burst of them.

Lunar enhancement only works when the moon is at its highest point in the sky, in addition to all the other factors. Even at other times of the night, she can't absorb the necessary energy, so it has a time limit and very specific conditions for usage. The enhancements are also fairly short lived, lasting maybe 10-15 minutes at most, if she absorbs enough lunar energy to enhance herself.

The energy is burned through immediately, if she uses it to enhance her muscles and then attacks somebody. Typically, Vira can only use lunar enhancement twice in one night, and even twice is tricky to pull off and she hasn't been able to really master that art. The enhancement energy also runs the risk of tiring her muscles and the like she improved with the energy out quicker than if she didn't use it, as it's a very focus, concentrated burst of energy.  So it's nice to have in a pinch, but really not the most practical or useful ability.

Cyrokinesis weakens during the hottest part of the summer, or on very hot or even humid days. When the temperature gets into the 80s and above, it's humid, all that jazz, her body takes some of her cyrokinetic energy to try and keep her from overheating, so her ice powers are weaker in the hottest parts of summer, despite cyrokinesis being her most reliable ability most of the time.

It is still connected to the more magical parts of her abilities due to ancestry in her family way back when, and the only reason cyrokinesis doesn't weaken as much as everything else does in conjunction with the moon, is because some members of the father's side of her family that don't have the same heritage her mother's side do had cyrokinesis, and so there's a little bit of genetics there that help to override the magical component.

However, the weaknesses were hereditary as well as associated with the magical components on her mother's side, so that's why summer and heat are a double whammy for Vira and her cyrokinesis becomes truly pathetic then.

BIO:

Vira was born in a loving, stable family and environment, spoiled rotten by her parents and grandparents for being an only child. She was just as reckless, full of energy, and always looking to get into trouble in her younger years as she was now, and because of all that energy her parents made sure to involve her in as many creative activities and other as possible, in the hopes of keeping her busy and giving her places to burn off some of it. It worked sometime, and to some extent, but of course not fully all the time knowing kids haha.

She very much looked up to her grandfather, who was a member of the hero version of the fbi and csi. She looked up to most of her family, as many of them had abilities and were registered volunteers of their local police department's powered divisions, but she really longed to be just like her grandpa, who had been 'an awesome super spy', as far as younger Vira was concerned.

Her nickname 'Beige' actually comes from her grandpa. She roped him into playing secret agent with her once while she was staying over at her grandparents house, wanted an awesome secret agent name, and at a loss he called out the name the color of the couch nearby was. A younger Vira loved it, and the nickname is just a fond memory and holds a lot of sentimental attachment to her, the reason she goes by it a lot now. Especially considering the fact her grandfather passed away several years prior to when all the stories are set.

It's her way of remembering and honoring him, as well as her dream goal- to make it all the way to that organization like he did. Yes, perhaps a bit inspired by clarice starling at least on that end ;P

Her parents and even her grandmother were leery of her dreams at first, as her grandfather had to retire from his duties thanks to injuries he'd sustained from one of the supervillains he'd had to deal with. They didn't want her to get hurt, and with so much bad news about super powered criminals growing in numbers the older she got, they really would have preferred she do something else. However, Vira was stubborn and set in her ways and ultimately her parents and Grace relented to her wishes and accepted them.

She wound up going to the nearest academy for super-powered cops in her area, and it was there she met the young man who became her best friend, whom she nicknamed Locke both jokingly and a term of endearment that just sort of stuck with him. They did such good work together in training exercises and their styles seemed to compliment each other well to their higher-ups; picking up the slack for each other and proving a decent team, that upon graduation they were assigned to be partners and sent to Omaggio's station to help look after things.

It was a city that saw enough attention to keep them busy and test their skills, but also not a MAJOR major place, so that they could nestle into their roles comfortably and their performance over the first year or two of service could be evaluated. Both of them are striving to be the best they can be, to make it to the FBI/CSI type organization for supers, but they're going to get drug into quite the mess regarding Billy, Morior, and the luces tria.
YES, VIRA AND MORIOR ARE OVERPOWERED LIKE WOAH.   The other powers are a little less...idk, 'exotic' I guess I'd call it, while still being powerful in many regards.   I'm hoping to balance things out in the weakness sections though, and always open to suggestions if people think I need to tweak that much more!  ^^

Edited a little bit again.  Not as much as I need to edit Logan's bio, but I added some new things.  I still need to polish some things up, but I'll worry about that later.  /le lazr

Aww yes Vira. Love her.

I think she has a lot of weaknesses and that her powers are a bit on the complicated side. But I can definitely see why you did this with her and Morior. It balances them out and prevents them from being TOO overpowered.

I think the voice you chose for her is a pretty good one too. The link was distracting though. I got pulled in and watched the entire short. It was fun but at one point my reaction was pretty much this: www.youtube.com/watch?v=r7IJ8Q… I'm wondering who the little girl at the end was though.

I also love how you gave them their fandom names as nicknames. You made the origins of how they got them fit so well (not to mention in Vira and Logan's case, their nickname origins are rather sweet and cute).
